Time to Niche Down

A world where lofty words and generic Christian-ese tickles the ears is just the place for a strong voice reaching a hungry audience. This post is part of my Write 31 Days Challenge series, based on results of the Online Christian Creative Survey.  Click here to see all posts in the series

I am always fascinated by the different topics that Christian writers are tackling.  The people who took our survey are writing about some of the most important topics of our time – racial issues, eating disorders and body image, anxiety and mental health.

They write to help us realize we aren’t alone in our struggles with messy marriages, foster care and adoption, prodigal children, singleness and purity, and empty nesting.

And they help us be better people as we learn about hospitality, travel, homeschooling and simplifying to a clutter-free life.

With all the crazyness going on in our world today, this is the time that Christians need to to have a voice in all of these things.  These topics could be addressed from a secular perspective, but only the Christian view can offer the hope we so desperately need.

While there were more than 50 specific topics mentioned in the responses, 80% identified their niche as “Biblical Inspiration or Bible Study”.

PRO TIP

If you are one of those who consider “Biblical Inspiration” to be your online niche, I’m going to encourage you to dig a little deeper.  Find an area you are passionate about and focus on it.  Your passion will shine through and will attract people who need the specific message you are sharing.

A world where lofty words and generic Christian-ese tickle the ears is just the place for a strong voice reaching a hungry audience.

And hey … if you are the one who listed your niche as “faith-based outlook on sports” or “geek interests”, let me know!  I want to read your blog!
