Invest Wisely

This post is part of my Write 31 Days Challenge series, based on results of the Online Christian Creative Survey.  Click here to see all posts in the series

When it comes to developing our skills and knowledge, we each have to find our own line between a worthy investment into God's work and spending money that should be spent elsewhere. As we shift in our series from the demographics of the Online Christian Creative community to their buying plans and preferences. we start by understanding the value of the market.

A whopping 43% of those who took the survey said they plan to spend $500 or less on courses and services in the next year.  Another 37% plan to spend between $500 and $1000 in the next year.

The small budget of Online Christian Creatives is not very surprising, considering that most of this community is driven by a passion to spread their message.  We are conditioned to spend as little a possible and pour the financial resources we have available into the mission instead of ourselves. And taking courses to up our blogging game, or hiring help to do the things we can’t definitely feels like spending money on ourselves.

Each person and every situation is different.  We each have to find our own line between a worthy investment into God’s work and spending money that could be better used elsewhere.

Course and service providers who target the online Christian creative market understand that struggle.  Just as each blogger must choose wisely how to invest in their ministry, course and service providers must also choose wisely how to invest their time, skills and expertise.

Many providers who serve other online Christian creatives feel called to walk alongside those who have a faith message to share.  It is our way of contributing to the Kingdom … to make you better at what you do so God can be glorified through your work.

PRO TIP

If you are marketing to the Christian audience, you should not be expected to provide all of your services for free or even well below market value.  20% or so of the community is able to invest more into their ministry or business. But you will need to be aware of the budget limitations that 80% of the market are facing and be prepared to offer things in smaller, budget-friendly packages if you want to serve that end of the community.
