Gift guides are everywhere this time of year. There are gift guides for the guy in your life, the most unique gifts, favorite toys and I especially loved this guide to gifts that give back.
Of course, there are gift guides for bloggers filled with amazingly helpful items like planners, e-courses, photo props and blog coaching.
But do you know what your blogging friend really would love from you? Especially if she is relatively new to blogging and trying to build her following? Well, I am going to tell you. And GOOD NEWS! Both of these things are FREE for you!
Those of us who write are passionate about what we do. We do this for lots of different reasons …
for a worn-out young mom to have a space of her own,
for a smart Bible-girl to share her dedication to God’s grace and glory with others,
for the crafter of words to offer hope in the broken places and, yes,
for the empty nester filling the newly open spaces in her heart and calendar.
No matter their personal reason for writing, the ultimate goal for most bloggers is for people to read and be inspired, learn something, be encouraged or entertained. So here are the two greatest gifts you can give the blogger in your life.
The Gift of Sharing
It’s awesome when you “like” Facebook posts or comment on blogs. That says to the blogger, “I like what you are doing. It’s helpful to me.”
But when you share a blogger’s content, it says, “I believe in your message and think it will help my friends.” The ultimate compliment.
Most bloggers make it easy to share their blog posts. Look for clickable icons for Facebook, Twitter and other social media at the bottom of the post or along the side of the page. See that column of blue buttons on the left side of my page? That’s what they are there for! Just a couple of clicks and you can give a treasured gift to your blogging friend.
The Gift of Subscribing
Sending you an email is the most direct way of sharing our blog posts with you. Your inbox is sacred. When you give a blogger permission to add you to their email list, you are saying, “I trust you and don’t want to miss a thing.”
That trust is taken seriously. Reputable bloggers will only send what they said they would send, whether that is a weekly newsletter with their blog posts, extra tips and resources or special offers. And often, the weekly newsletter may come with exclusive content, discounts or opportunities for the amazing people who trust us with their inboxes. So it’s a great deal for you, too!
By Federal Trade Commission rules, anyone sending mass emails is required to provide a way to unsubscribe. So if you find that a newsletter is not really for you, you can always look near the bottom and click the unsubscribe link.
So there you go. Two easy things you can do that will thrill a blogger that you love.
Because I try to practice what I preach, I just subscribed to Laura at According to Laura Jean because she is brave, adorable and smart, and to BethAnn at She Believes because I just love her and believe in what she is doing. And I shared these two posts on my social media:
I think this one is helpful to a lot of my readers …
