Episode 19: Find Your Purpose at the Intersection of Why, Who, and You

Find Your Purpose at the Intersection of Why, Who, and You

Are you just getting your creative ministry or business off the ground?  Or maybe you’ve been at it a while and it’s time for a refresh and refocus.  Before you get too far, you need a strong foundation to build on for success.  In Episode 19 of Just One Simple Thing, we’ll kick off the Success Foundations series as we explore six key building blocks you need to start and grow an online ministry or business, starting with how to find your purpose.

For the last few weeks, we’ve been talking about launching something.  While a launch may be a beginning point for your client or customer, it feels like an endpoint for you.  After months of brainstorming and creating, you are finally at the end of the project.  If you missed those episodes about launching, go back to Episodes 16, 17 and 18.

I know that many of you are truly at the beginning. More than 400 people have taken the What Type of Stuck Are You quiz, and half of them found out they are Day Dreamers …. You have a vague idea that God wants to use your gifts and talents, but you aren’t quite sure what that looks like, and you don’t have specific ideas or plans take your first steps or you’ve been working at your ministry or business for a while but feel like you’ve hit a wall…

Over the next several episodes, we are going to walk through some Success Foundations that you need in place.

That blog, podcast, Instagram account or membership…Often we get all caught up in those tools and focused on graphics and microphones and algorithms, and we lose sight of the real calling and God’s purpose for us.

You will find your purpose at the intersection of WHY, WHO, and YOU:

1. Your purpose intersects with your WHY.
Your Why is the foundation of your calling. It is the thing that excites and energizes you, but it can also be the thing that grieves your heart.  It motivates you to action.

2. Your purpose intersects with your WHO.
Your Who is the group of people who need what you have.  These are the ones that you are able to build special relationships with and that seek you out for advice.

3. Your purpose intersects with your YOU.
You have unique life experiences that give you something to offer. Think of the things that are burning in your heart to share with someone. Your You includes your personality traits that contribute to the way you will reach your Who.

God sees things in us that we have no idea are there, and he challenges us to use those things for His glory.  God sees something valuable in you that you may not see and using that “thing” is part of your Purpose.
