I spent a weekend in a studio apartment …my own personal retreat.
And I got work done in all those places. Lots of work.
But let me tell you about my very favorite time of getting work done.
I was visiting a friend in a different city and staying at her house. With both of us having long to-do lists, we sprawled out on her living room couches with our laptops and notebooks.
There would be long stretches of quiet, and then one of us would pop up and say, “Hey, what do you think about this?” or “How does this sound?”
Her family might wander through the room. When I got stuck, I could gaze out the big window at the beautiful back yard and ponder.
It was peaceful and productive. I felt supported and connected, while also deeply engrossed in my work.

The Villas at Carter Plantation - Tucked away in Southern Louisiana, about an hour from both New Orleans and Baton Rouge, the Villas at Carter Plantation is your getaway from the rigors of everyday life.
