You Need Help!

While we learned in yesterday’s post that the majority of online Christian creatives have less than $1000 per year to spend on products and services, that doesn’t mean you don’t recognize the need for help.

You have unique gifts, talents and skills, but no one can do everything themselves.  We need to reach out to others whose gifts, talents and skills fill in our gaps.

The top needs for services fall into two main categories:

Services that make you better:  Blog/business coaching (35%), Speaking/writing coaching (34%), Editing/Proofreading (25%)

Services that are done for you: Book or Product Launches (32%), Social media management (23%), Web Design/Technical Support (21%).

If you can provide any of those services, good news!  There are people who need them! But at least 10% of the survey responders also need help with a book proposal, administrative support, stock photography, graphic design and legal/accounting.

That’s a lot of needs.  We need to be careful to prioritize where we can get the most value from our small budgets. If you are trying to make some tough decisions around resources and support, maybe some of these thoughts will help:

• Make forward-looking decisions.  Invest your time and money on things that will help you in the future, not necessarily the things that have hurt you in the past.
• Invest in things you are less likely to be able to learn or do on your own.
• Consider bartering your skill or experience with someone else.  That’s a fun way to help each other!
